Health Records Administrator

About the role

The Health Records Administrator ensures accurate DAD and NACRS coding, abstracts medical records, and supports health records clerk duties at Manitoulin Health Centre.

Key responsibilities

• Perform NACRS and DAD coding/abstracting for emergency, day surgery, oncology, and inpatient records.
• Process release‑of‑information requests, create invoices, and log data for statistical reporting.
• Handle admissions and discharges, scan and audit records, and enter data into Med2020 WinRecs.
• Maintain Meditech Expanse eChart, locate and deliver charts for clinics, and perform reception duties.
• Assist with record retention, destruction, and court subpoenas as needed.

Required profile

• Current CHIM certification with the Canadian Health Information Management Association.
• Two years of relevant hospital experience (preferred).
• Proof of full COVID‑19 immunization.
• Ability to maintain regular attendance.

Required skills

• Proficiency in ICD‑10 and CCI coding conventions.
• Experience with Med2020 WinRecs, Meditech Expanse, and Folio Views software.
• Strong knowledge of PHIPA, Public Hospitals Act, and medical terminology.
• Computer skills including Microsoft Office, Excel, and keyboarding.
