Registered Practical Nurse – Long Term Care (Ontario)

About the role

RhynoCare is looking for an experienced Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to provide compassionate care in long‑term care facilities in Peterborough, Ontario. You will be engaged as an independent contractor, working with a multidisciplinary team to support resident well‑being.

Key responsibilities

• Provide safe, competent, and ethical nursing and personal care in line with CNO standards, organizational policies, physician orders, and resident care plans.
• Address residents’ physical, psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs while promoting dignity, autonomy, and choice.
• Facilitate admissions, transfers, and discharges with clear communication and coordination among residents, families, and the healthcare team.
• Administer medications, including narcotics, ensuring compliance with legislative and organizational requirements.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, offering leadership and guidance to PSWs and other staff as needed.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario standards.
• Respond promptly to medical emergencies, following established protocols.

Required profile

• Current and active registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Flexibility to work various shift lengths (8‑ or 12‑hour) as required by the facility schedule.
• Willingness to work in different units within the healthcare facility based on staffing needs.
• Reliability and commitment to scheduled shifts in line with RhynoCare’s attendance and cancellation policy.
