Overnight 988 Crisis Response Worker (Part‑time, Remote)

About the role

The 988 Crisis Response Worker provides immediate assessment and support to individuals calling or texting the national 988 mental health crisis line during overnight shifts. This part‑time remote position helps stabilize callers in crisis and guides them toward safety and recovery.

Key responsibilities

• Answer 988 telephone and text calls overnight (7 PM‑7 AM) and conduct initial assessments.
• Provide crisis intervention to stabilize individuals experiencing suicidal thoughts or emotional distress.
• Collaborate with callers to develop safety plans and connect them to longer‑term supports.
• Document interactions and follow agency protocols for confidentiality and reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related health discipline.
• Minimum three years of experience working with individuals with serious mental illness.
• Knowledge of the local mental‑health service system.
• Completion of CPI, CPR and ASIST training as required by the agency.
• Valid G‑class driver’s licence and reliable transportation or access to reliable transport.
• Ability to obtain a police clearance meeting agency standards.
