Recruiter – Experienced Hires (18‑month Contract)

About the role

Smythe LLP is seeking a Talent Acquisition professional to lead full‑cycle recruitment for senior‑level accounting talent within a CPA firm environment. This 18‑month contract role is based in downtown Vancouver and focuses on proactive, outreach‑driven sourcing of passive candidates.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end recruitment for senior public‑practice accounting positions (Senior Accountant to Director/Principal) across Assurance, Tax and Advisory.
• Partner with partners and senior leaders to define hiring needs, scorecards and candidate profiles.
• Design and execute targeted sourcing strategies to engage passive CPA‑firm talent.
• Conduct daily outbound outreach (cold calling, LinkedIn messaging, referrals, networking) to build qualified pipelines.
• Assess candidates for technical depth, client exposure and career progression; present shortlists with clear recommendations.
• Manage interview scheduling, feedback loops and candidate experience throughout the selection process.
• Lead offer strategy, negotiations and closing in a competitive market.
• Track and report pipeline metrics, outreach activity and hiring progress; maintain accurate ATS/CRM data and recruiting dashboards.

Required profile

• 5+ years of recruitment experience, preferably focused on experienced hires.
• Background in agency recruiting and/or in‑house talent acquisition within professional services.
• Proven success recruiting public‑practice accounting talent at senior levels.
• Comfortable sourcing and engaging passive candidates through cold outreach.
• Experience partnering with senior stakeholders and managing complex hiring processes.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ATS/CRM systems for data management and reporting.
