Purchasing Director

About the role

Lufa Farms is seeking a strategic and detail‑oriented Purchasing Director to lead its marketplace procurement function. The role combines negotiation, supplier relationship management, and data‑driven merchandising to ensure affordable, high‑quality food for customers across Quebec.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute purchasing strategy to secure competitive pricing and maintain product affordability.
• Negotiate terms, pricing, and agreements with farms, food makers and other suppliers.
• Build and nurture supplier relationships aligned with Lufa Farms’ sustainability mission.
• Develop the Marketplace merchandising plan based on demand trends, customer insights and profitability targets.
• Oversee pricing, assortment and promotional activities to optimise margins and average order value.
• Forecast demand, manage inventory levels and minimise waste while ensuring product availability.
• Lead, coach and evaluate the purchasing team against defined KPIs.
• Collaborate with marketing, distribution, accounting and IT to improve supply‑chain tools and processes.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of experience in purchasing management or a director‑level role, preferably within the food sector.
• Proven negotiation skills and ability to develop strong business partnerships.
• Experience in demand forecasting, supplier management and retail pricing.
• Demonstrated capability to lead multidisciplinary teams and drive KPI performance.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to work quickly in a dynamic environment.

Required skills

• Advanced use of spreadsheets (e.g., Microsoft Excel).
• Familiarity with project‑management software.
