Project Manager – Infrastructure Planning (Capital, Policies & Budgets)

About the role

Contribute to the City of Hamilton, one of Canada’s largest cities, by leading technical studies and design for growth‑related water, wastewater and road infrastructure. Reporting to the Senior Engineer, you will coordinate consultants and internal resources to deliver capital projects that support the city’s vision of being the best place to raise a child and age successfully.

Key responsibilities

• Manage growth‑related infrastructure servicing studies and design, focusing on water, wastewater and road networks.
• Prepare requests for proposals, retain consultants and oversee technical assignments.
• Conduct field investigations, provide technical advice to internal departments, external agencies and the public.
• Assist in preparing the division’s annual capital infrastructure budget and forecasts.
• Develop policies, procedures, guidelines and standards related to growth and infrastructure planning.
• Liaise with developers, councillors, ministries, neighbouring municipalities and Indigenous Nations.

Required profile

• University degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technologist Diploma with progressive experience.
• Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario or member of the Ontario Association of Civil Engineers and Technologists.
• Experience in municipal water, wastewater and road design, hydraulic modelling and land development.
• Ability to manage multi‑disciplinary teams, consultants and budgets.
• Strong knowledge of relevant statutes, regulations and development charge legislation.
