Project & Event Management Specialist (Contract)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Project and Event Management Specialist on a contract basis to plan, coordinate and deliver a variety of events and projects across Nunavut. The role involves rapid response to project call‑ups, managing multiple priorities and travelling to remote communities as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute advertising and promotional campaigns for events
• Secure sponsors and partners for events and projects
• Coordinate with suppliers, exhibitors, and event committees
• Develop and oversee event budgets, ensuring cost control
• Organise venues, speakers, technical support, and logistics
• Administer attendee fees and registration processes
• Prepare event materials and signage
• Manage on‑site event logistics and security coordination
• Oversee venue and room bookings across communities
• Organise familiarisation trips for stakeholders
• Provide post‑event performance reports and attendee feedback summaries

Required profile

• Proven experience in project and/or event management
• Experience organising events with large numbers of attendees
• Background working in remote or northern Canadian communities
• Strong budget management, vendor coordination, and logistics skills
• Ability to work independently under tight deadlines
• Willingness and ability to travel to Nunavut communities as required
• Familiarity with Nunavut tourism and cultural industries
• Diploma or degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related field
• Professional certification in event or project management (e.g., CMP, PMP) preferred
