Project Accountant 2

About the role

The Project Accountant 2 will independently manage client invoicing, collections, and project budgeting while supporting the accounting team with A/P coding, timesheets, and expense reports. This role ensures accurate contract documentation and provides timely financial data to project personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and process client invoices, manage collections, and maintain project budgets.
• Assist with coding and processing accounts payable, timesheets, and expense reports.
• Enter and maintain contract documentation, fees, and budget data.
• Provide contract performance data and resolve financial issues with project staff.
• Coordinate project accounting systems and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
• Support multiple project managers and staff on a daily basis.
• Mentor junior project accountants as needed.
• Perform additional duties as required.

Required profile

• Associate degree in a related field or equivalent education and experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience; an advanced degree may offset years.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including grammar, punctuation, and proofreading.
• Strong flexibility, ability to prioritize multiple tasks, and collaborate in a fast‑paced environment.
• Self‑motivated, well‑organized, detail‑oriented, and capable of handling confidential information.

Required skills

• Familiarity with Earned Value Management.
