Programme Research Intern – Projects & MLF Policies

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a motivated intern to support the Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol (MLF) in Montreal. Working under a Senior Programme Management Officer, you will contribute to research and analysis of projects that address ozone depletion and high‑global‑warming hydrofluorocarbons.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in designing a tool to capture and regularly update information on servicing sectors and non‑investment components of KIPs/HPMPs projects.
• Compile and analyse data from refrigeration servicing sector activities, including training types, certification levels, local institutes, sector categories, and relevant regulations.
• Support the preparation of reports and briefing materials for the MLF Executive Committee and the Meeting of the Parties.
• Provide general administrative and research assistance to the MLF Secretariat as required.

Required profile

• Strong interest in United Nations work and commitment to its Charter ideals.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Required skills

• Data compilation and basic analysis.
• Familiarity with environmental policy frameworks is a plus.
