Product Design Engineer – Injection Molding Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a Product Design Engineer with strong expertise in injection molding to join a dynamic product development team in the Greater Toronto Area. The role involves designing plastic components from concept through production launch, ensuring manufacturability, quality, and cost‑effectiveness.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop plastic parts using CAD tools such as SolidWorks, CATIA, and Siemens NX.
• Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles specific to injection molding.
• Collaborate with tooling engineers and mold makers to create robust part designs and tooling solutions.
• Select appropriate materials considering functionality, aesthetics, and cost.
• Perform tolerance stack‑up analysis and ensure dimensional accuracy.
• Work with CAE/FEA analysts to validate designs through mold flow and structural simulations.
• Participate in prototyping, testing, and validation activities.
• Address manufacturing and quality issues via root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Maintain documentation, including design revisions, BOMs, and technical specifications.
• Support the product lifecycle from concept through post‑launch improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience designing injection‑molded plastic parts.
• Strong understanding of injection molding processes, tooling, and materials.
• Experience with mold flow analysis and interpreting simulation results.
• Familiarity with GD&T and engineering drawing standards.
• Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and project‑management abilities.
• Knowledge of ISO/TS16949, APQP, and PPAP processes is a plus.
