Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) Specialist – Remote Contract

About the role

The Government of Saskatchewan’s Information Technology Division is seeking a Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) Specialist to support a range of technology projects. This is a two‑year remote contract focused on identifying privacy risks and delivering comprehensive PIA reports to guide decision‑makers.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in core project team meetings to ensure privacy considerations are integrated throughout project lifecycles.
• Gather administrative, technical, and physical information from subject‑matter experts to assess privacy implications.
• Analyze systems, legislative duties, safeguards, and access controls to protect personal information.
• Review project approaches, policies, and associated materials, providing feedback and recommendations.
• Conduct full Privacy Impact Assessments, write detailed reports, and propose mitigation strategies.
• Advise on implementation of privacy controls and monitor compliance with provincial and federal privacy laws.

Required profile

• At least five years of experience developing and delivering Privacy Impact Assessments for technology solutions.
• Working knowledge of Saskatchewan’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act or comparable privacy legislation.
• Experience reviewing government‑level projects to identify privacy, data duplication, and security issues.
• Familiarity with criminal‑justice and correctional environments is an asset.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
