Principal SQL Database Administrator – Remote

About the role

FullStack is seeking a Principal SQL Database Administrator to join its talent network and work on high‑scale projects for U.S. clients. The role is fully remote with regular overlap with Canadian business hours.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments at enterprise scale (1,000+ databases).
• Perform performance tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization, including indexing strategies and execution‑plan analysis.
• Establish DBA standards, procedures, and best practices where formal processes are lacking.
• Provide proactive identification and resolution of database performance bottlenecks.
• Collaborate with Agile/Scrum teams and contribute to CI/CD pipelines.

Required profile

• 8+ years of professional database administration experience.
• Advanced English proficiency and a completed four‑year college degree.
• Strong ownership mentality and ability to operate at scale across many databases.
• Availability to work during Vancouver/Pacific or Toronto/Eastern business hours.

Required skills

• Microsoft SQL Server administration in Windows‑hosted environments.
• SQL Server performance tuning, indexing, and query‑plan analysis.
• Experience with CI/CD, Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Deep knowledge of database health management and maintenance.
