Principal Enterprise Architect - Financial Services

About the role

Synechron is hiring a Principal Architect for its Canada Financial Services practice in Mississauga, Ontario. This non-billable role is the technical cornerstone of the practice, responsible for architectural excellence, technical innovation and hands-on delivery quality across consulting engagements. It ensures that every architecture design and line of code meets world-class standards for performance, compliance, security and operational resilience, and contributes to Synechron's intellectual property and frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Lead architecture design across Canada FS engagements, set architectural standards and patterns, and run architecture decision boards with documented Architecture Decision Records.
• Review designs from delivery architects and consultants, validating alignment with FS regulatory requirements such as OSFI, PIPEDA and AML/KYC, and escalate architectural risks early.
• Take part in high-stakes design workshops with client stakeholders and lead design validation, including proof-of-concepts and technology selection.
• Review architecture-critical code, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Helm charts), API and data model design, and compliance-critical implementation such as audit logging, encryption and access control.
• Mentor delivery architects and engineers through pair programming, code reviews and technical deep dives.
• Drive innovation by evaluating emerging technologies (AI/GenAI, blockchain, real-time data platforms) and building business cases for them.
• Own or co-develop proprietary Synechron frameworks, such as an FS Responsible AI Governance Framework and an OSFI-compliant cloud architecture pattern.

Required profile

• Deep architectural guidance and hands-on technical leadership across financial services consulting engagements.
• Ability to participate in design and code-level work, not just review it.
• Strong understanding of financial services regulatory requirements and their architectural implications.

Required skills

• Cloud platforms, databases, integration middleware and AI/ML frameworks
• Infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation and Helm charts
• API design, microservices and event-driven patterns

What we offer

• Base salary of CAD 180k to 210k per year for a role filled in Mississauga, Ontario, plus benefits.
