Postdoctoral Research Fellow – Perennial Restoration Prioritization

About the role

The University of British Columbia invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the PERCS project, focusing on prioritizing perennial restoration in Canadian agricultural landscapes. The fellow will lead the Spatial Science and Synthesis component, developing tools to identify optimal locations for hedgerows, windbreaks, and riparian plantings that enhance biodiversity, ecosystem services, and farmer livelihoods.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement landscape‑scale models linking perennial features to ecosystem services and biodiversity outcomes.
• Parameterize spatial prioritization approaches to maximize multifunctionality of agricultural landscapes.
• Develop a digital dashboard or tool for partners to visualize priority sites based on their objectives.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, external partners, and supervise trainees.
• Disseminate findings through peer‑reviewed publications, reports, conferences, and workshops.

Required profile

• PhD in landscape ecology, agroecology, environmental science, or a related field.
• Experience with spatial analysis, ecosystem service assessment, or agent‑based modelling.
• Strong record of scientific communication and publication.
• Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and institutions.
