Policy Analyst, Fossil Fuel Transition

About the role
The International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) is seeking a Policy Analyst focused on the fossil fuel transition within its Energy Program. The analyst will support research, advocacy, and strategic advice to help countries achieve a just, orderly, and equitable shift away from fossil fuel production and consumption.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct policy‑oriented research on public financial flows, fossil fuel subsidy phase‑outs, and economic diversification.
- Produce policy briefs, blog posts, visualisations and other outreach materials for diverse audiences.
- Plan and coordinate engagements with IISD’s strategic partners and stakeholders.
- Present IISD’s findings to policymakers, civil society groups, media and other audiences.
- Collaborate with a global team of over 50 energy experts to ensure transition commitments are embedded in national and global policies.
Required profile
- Strong interest and experience in climate, economic development and energy transition policy analysis.
- Ability to quickly learn new topics, manage large volumes of information and data.
- Excellent critical‑thinking, organization and communication skills.
