Pharmacy Assistant – Support Pharmacist with Prescriptions & Inventory

About the role

The Pharmacy Assistant works under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to ensure smooth processing of prescription refills, third‑party billing, and patient scheduling. The role supports dispensing activities, inventory management, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Enter prescription data, track drug lot numbers and expiry dates using Kroll software.
• Assist the pharmacist with prescription entry, refill processing, and adjudication.
• Communicate with patients to schedule medication deliveries and resolve third‑party insurance billing issues.
• Prepare and label medications, document lot and expiry information, and assemble compounding sheets.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels, perform stock rotation, and conduct physical inventories.
• Order, receive, and store medications and supplies according to pharmacy policy.
• Maintain pharmacy records, file prescriptions, and document dispensing activities per policies and procedures.
• Liaise with healthcare team members, patient support programs, and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Pharmacy Assistant Certificate or Diploma from an accredited institution (preferred).
• Experience with pharmacy operations, prescription processing, and inventory management.
• Ability to follow federal, provincial and local regulations and accreditation standards.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation skills.
