Part‑Time Registered Nurse – Outpatient Procedure Suites (OPS)

About the role

This part‑time, temporary position supports the Surgical System team in the Outpatient Procedure Suites (OPS) at Markham Stouffville Hospital. You will deliver high‑quality nursing care for a variety of endoscopic and minor surgical procedures while promoting patient safety and advocacy.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care in the OPS Procedure Unit.
• Assist with endoscopy procedures such as colonoscopy, gastroscopy, ERCP and bronchoscopy.
• Support urologic surgeries including TURP, laser stone extraction and cystoscopy, as well as minor procedures in plastic and ENT specialties.
• Collaborate with an interprofessional team to ensure patient safety and effective care coordination.
• Document care accurately and adhere to hospital standards and guidelines.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with an undergraduate nursing degree.
• Active registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Post‑graduate Certificate in Operating Room Nursing.
• Current BCLS certification.
• Minimum two years of experience in an endoscopy‑related environment (preferred).
• Membership with the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) is an asset.

Required skills

• BCLS certification.
• Knowledge of OPANA standards.
• Proficiency with computer systems.
• Technical competence in endoscopy procedures (colonoscopy, gastroscopy, ERCP, bronchoscopy).
• Technical competence in urologic surgical procedures (TURP, laser stone extraction, cystoscopy).
