Part-Time Dock Worker

About the role

Manitoulin Transport, a North American transportation company with 65 years of experience, is hiring a part-time dock worker in Winnipeg. The role involves loading and unloading freight and is open to people willing to train.

Key responsibilities

• Unload and load freight from trailers and load outbound trailers using forklifts
• Label freight and, occasionally, weigh items to confirm they match the shipper's bill of lading
• Start heaters and placard trailers as required
• Help keep the warehouse safe and clean by sweeping the floor and storing dunnage properly
• Other duties may be assigned

Required profile

• Willing to train; the part-time role could lead to full-time
• Must be safety-minded and goal-oriented
• Able to lift 50 lbs, sometimes repetitively, and able to multitask
• Developed problem-solving, critical thinking, decision-making and judgment skills

Required skills

• Forklift experience
• WHIMS and Dangerous Goods certificate (covered by in-house training)
