On-Call Casual Caretaker

About the role

School District #43 in Coquitlam is seeking on‑call casual caretakers to provide custodial support across its schools and facilities. The role is hourly, on‑call and may involve morning, afternoon, evening or weekend shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general custodial duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and spot cleaning.
• Clean and maintain washrooms, dispose of waste and replace light bulbs.
• Operate various cleaning equipment, including dusters, polishers and floor machines.
• Ensure buildings remain healthy, safe and sanitary.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 10 education.
• Building Service Worker Certificate from a recognized college or institution.
• Ability to meet physical demands, including climbing ladders, scaffolds and lifting heavy items.
• Availability to work up to six days per week on a variety of shifts.

Required skills

• Use of cleaning equipment (vacuum, floor scrubber, polishers).
• Basic electrical tasks such as light‑bulb replacement.
