Night Shift Line Operator - Extrusion Line

About the role

Dura-Line, an Orbia Connectivity Solutions business, is hiring a Line Operator for its night shift in St. Albert, Alberta. The operator runs an extrusion line so that every product is free from cosmetic and physical defects and within manufacturing tolerances, keeping the product run high quality, safe and efficient.

Key responsibilities

• Review product and equipment throughout the shift to confirm material and quality requirements are met
• Maintain records of Lost Production Hours and complete documentation for accurate inventory transactions
• Start lines, make corrections to process conditions and equipment, and make tooling changes to keep the schedule
• Monitor vacuum and spray cooling systems (water levels, flow, spray pattern, temperature) and adjust them as needed
• Coordinate changes with other operators on the extrusion line

Required profile

• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts, 3-4 days or nights per week, mostly indoors on the plant floor and sometimes outdoors in any weather
• Ability to stay in one place 80-100% of the time, squatting, bending or stooping up to 25% of the time on some days
• Able to lift 50 pounds without help and to wear dust masks, earplugs and face shields as needed
• CSA-approved steel-toed shoes required; a valid lift forklift licence is a plus

Required skills

• Simple math and measurement skills
• Working knowledge of extruders, printers, reelers, vacuum systems, chillers, resin systems, pullers and quality control standards
• Knowledge of smooth core procedures and of downstream operators and reel builders
