Mobile Software Engineer, Android

About the role

As an Android Engineer at Manulife, you will help build and maintain a mobile app that simplifies group benefits management for users during important life moments. Your work will directly improve how customers care for themselves and their families.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop intuitive, mobile‑first experiences that are accessible and easy to use.
• Translate user stories into efficient, maintainable, and well‑tested code.
• Integrate the app with backend services, APIs, and external data sources.
• Ensure applications are secure, performant, and reliable.
• Identify and resolve issues, continuously improving performance.
• Collaborate with designers, product owners, quality engineers, and other developers.
• Participate in design reviews, pair programming, and code reviews.
• Stay current with new technologies that enhance the customer experience.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience building Android applications that integrate with remote services and APIs.
• 1+ years creating UI components with Jetpack Compose.
• Solid understanding of Android architecture, performance optimization, and mobile security.
• Experience using Git for version control (GitHub preferred).
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
• Awareness of accessibility and inclusive design.
