Mental Health Therapist – Full-Time

About the role
The Mental Health Therapist joins the CMHA Kenora Counselling Program, reporting to the Team Leader of Counselling and Treatment. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the therapist provides assessment, treatment planning, and evidence‑based interventions to individuals experiencing mental health challenges.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct thorough screening and assessment of clients and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Deliver evidence‑based therapies such as CBT, RET, Narrative Therapy, Trauma‑focused interventions and EMDR.
- Maintain accurate client records, case management documentation, and ensure confidentiality in line with CMHA policies and PHIPA.
- Facilitate group therapy, skills‑enhancement sessions and provide education to clients, families and the community.
- Collaborate with community agencies, act as an advocate, and participate in inter‑agency integration.
- Supervise undergraduate and graduate students and contribute to clinical team meetings.
- Ensure workplace safety, adhere to health and safety regulations, and promote self‑care to mitigate vicarious trauma.
Required profile
- BSW, MSW, MA in Counselling Psychology or equivalent Masters‑level training in Occupational Therapy or Nursing.
- Membership in good standing with a governing professional college or association.
- Strong knowledge of mental health issues, recovery philosophy and community resources.
- Leadership ability, cultural competence and capacity to work independently.
- Proficiency with computer‑based record keeping and data entry.
