Medical Monitoring Manager - Oncology

About the role

Translational Research in Oncology (TRIO) seeks an experienced physician leader to head its Medical Monitoring Unit. The role ensures medical and scientific integrity across oncology clinical trials from Phase I to Phase III, balancing rigorous science with operational practicality.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop the Medical Monitoring Unit, overseeing multiple Medical Monitors.
• Maintain consistent, high‑quality medical monitoring across all oncology studies.
• Provide expert guidance on protocol interpretation, safety events, eligibility, and benefit‑risk assessments.
• Serve as senior medical liaison for sponsors, investigators and internal stakeholders.
• Drive consistency, quality standards and best practices across studies and the team.
• Allocate resources and prioritize work within a complex, evolving portfolio.
• Contribute to study and portfolio planning, aligning with budgets and cross‑functional teams.
• Support hiring, coaching and retention of high‑performing medical staff.

Required profile

• Medical Doctor (MD) with oncology specialization preferred.
• 8‑10+ years of experience in clinical research, including proven Medical Monitor experience in oncology trials (Phase I‑III).
• Strong background in safety review and medical decision‑making.
• Demonstrated people‑management and team‑leadership abilities.
• Experience managing multiple studies or programs simultaneously.
• Deep understanding of clinical trial design and regulatory frameworks (ICH‑GCP, FDA, EMA).
• Fluent English; Spanish is a plus.
• CRO experience strongly preferred; pharma experience also considered.
