Mechanical Estimator – Construction Projects

About the role

The Mechanical Estimator will analyze costs and prepare work take‑offs and estimates for mechanical projects. Reporting to the Senior Mechanical Estimator, you will support project operations with a focus on estimating, reporting, planning, scheduling and change management.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare cost estimates for materials, labour and equipment based on bids, drawings and specifications.
• Advise on tendering procedures, examine tenders, recommend awards and participate in negotiations.
• Coordinate price packages with suppliers, subcontractors, owners, designers and architects.
• Maintain a directory of suppliers and subcontractors and conduct feasibility studies on cost adjustments.
• Conduct material and equipment purchasing for secured jobs and co‑ordinate small projects.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Construction Engineering Technology/Construction Management (or 2‑5 years as a qualified tradesperson).
• 2‑3 years of estimating experience in commercial construction.
• Strong communication, teamwork, problem‑solving and accountability skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with recognized estimating software (unspecified).
• Advanced use of MS Office Suite – Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Clean Class 5 BC driver’s licence and willingness to travel within Greater Vancouver.
