Mechanical Engineer – Healthcare Reprocessing

About the role
As a Mechanical Engineer you will join a fast‑paced Healthcare Reprocessing team, collaborating with cross‑functional members from concept development through final release. Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, you will develop innovative mechanical and electromechanical solutions for medical‑device products.
Key responsibilities
- Perform routine engineering analyses and resolve issues using problem‑solving techniques and testing.
- Design, develop, test, and release mechanical or electromechanical components and assemblies.
- Manage assigned engineering tasks, lead technical design discussions, and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
- Apply statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid, and material science principles to create design solutions.
- Determine technical feasibility of new concepts using rapid prototyping (3D printing) and machine‑shop tools.
- Create 2D and 3D CAD models, sketches, and detailed drawings.
- Ensure compliance with STERIS and medical‑device codes, standards, and design‑control requirements.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Reliability, Manufacturing, Service, Supply Chain, and Regulatory Affairs.
- Interact with vendors and suppliers to verify product requirements.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Experience with 3D CAD (Creo preferred) and product‑life‑management tools (Windchill preferred).
- Proficiency in Finite Element Analysis and Computational Fluid Dynamics (ANSYS preferred).
- Background in design controls within a regulated (medical‑device) environment.
- Hands‑on experience with metals, polymers, composites, pneumatics, hydraulics, electromechanical sensors, sheet‑metal fabrication, machining, welding, forming, and molding.
