Mechanical Designer

About the role

ABB is looking for a Mechanical Designer to act as the technical lead for engineering activities on assigned projects. You will ensure that all engineering disciplines are executed efficiently, cost‑effectively, and in line with safety, cybersecurity and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical contribution and evaluate standard techniques for conventional projects.
• Act as design authority for a specific engineering discipline, approve design deliverables and ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Support construction, installation and commissioning phases by clarifying issues and providing corrective solutions.
• Interact with customers, contractors and suppliers, present technical aspects and participate in project meetings.
• Lead risk analysis, contribute to proposals and ensure “fail‑safe” and “secure‑by‑design” principles are applied.
• Share knowledge, coach project engineers and maintain best‑practice repositories.

Required profile

• Proven experience acting as a technical lead or design authority on engineering projects.
• Strong understanding of engineering development processes, safety, cybersecurity and quality assurance.
• Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams during installation and start‑up.
• Excellent communication skills for customer and stakeholder interaction.
• Experience in risk analysis, proposal preparation and knowledge‑sharing activities.
