Meat Chef – Korean Restaurant

About the role

Join Hanyang Korean Restaurant in Calgary as a Meat Chef, leading the preparation and cooking of premium meat dishes in a fast‑paced, formal dining environment. You will work closely with the head chef and other specialist chefs to maintain high culinary standards and delight guests.

Key responsibilities

• Estimate quantities and costs of supplies, maintain food cost and inventory records, and analyze operating expenses.
• Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to kitchen staff, supervise specialist chefs, cooks, and other kitchen workers.
• Create new recipes, instruct cooks on preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation, and ensure meals meet quality and allergy requirements.
• Plan menus, oversee food preparation across multiple restaurant functions, and coordinate equipment purchases and repairs.
• Recruit, hire, and train kitchen staff, supervising up to 4 team members.

Required profile

• Strong leadership and dependability with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and handle physically demanding tasks, including standing for long periods and lifting 45‑60 kg.
• Organized, reliable, flexible team player with a focus on detail and food safety.

Required skills

• Safe Food Handling certification.
• Food Safety certification.
