Manufacturing Engineer

About the role

Powell is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join its Electrical Division in Edmonton. You will own the design and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes for engineered‑to‑order switchgear and e‑house products, ensuring safety, quality and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate existing processes and conduct research to develop improved manufacturing methods.
• Design, modify, and test equipment and tooling in collaboration with vendors.
• Analyze workflow, space requirements and equipment layout to boost efficiency.
• Create testing procedures, establish standards and verify product and process capabilities.
• Calculate production, labor and material costs and support scheduling and forecasting.
• Prepare reports on process performance, trends and improvement opportunities.
• Coordinate equipment maintenance and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Maintain process data by writing programs and entering information.
• Guide technicians through design and development projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering.
• 0‑2 years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer.
• Familiarity with the Toyota Production System or Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Project management experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
