Managing Director, Investment Grade Private Debt

About the role

British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) is seeking a Managing Director to lead its newly launched Investment Grade Private Credit Fund. The fund starts with $1.8 billion in direct co‑investment commitments and targets $13 billion of deployments over three years, primarily across the United States and Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute active investment processes and strategies within private credit asset classes.
• Lead evaluation, negotiation, and management of external partnership opportunities.
• Source, assess, and execute co‑investments that will form the majority of the fund’s assets under management.
• Collaborate with global teams in Victoria, Vancouver, New York, London, and Mumbai to ensure consistent long‑term value creation.

Required profile

• 20+ years of experience in the investment industry, preferably with an institutional investment organization.
• Proven experience in corporate lending and/or asset‑backed investing.
• Strong fundamental financial analysis capabilities.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and mentor junior staff.
• Experience hiring and building high‑performing investment teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, decision‑making, and negotiation skills.
