Manager of Resident Care

About the role

The City of Greater Sudbury is seeking a strategic healthcare leader to serve as Manager of Resident Care at Pioneer Manor, one of Ontario’s largest municipally‑operated long‑term care homes. Reporting to the Director of Long‑Term Care Services, you will act as the legislated Director of Nursing and Personal Care under the Fixing Long‑Term Care Act, 2021.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership, professional accountability, and operational oversight for nursing and personal care services across a 400‑bed facility.
• Manage a large clinical portfolio of approximately 400 staff through supervisory leaders, ensuring quality improvement, infection prevention and control, and regulatory compliance.
• Oversee labour relations, staffing, risk management, budgeting, and operational planning in a complex, highly regulated, unionized environment.
• Collaborate with residents, families, healthcare professionals, community partners, and senior municipal leadership to deliver resident‑centred care.

Required profile

• Current Certificate of Competence as a Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Minimum five years of progressive management experience in a large, complex, unionized long‑term care setting.
• Strong knowledge of long‑term care operations, nursing administration, geriatric care, and relevant legislation (Fixing Long‑Term Care Homes Act, 2021).
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage resources, and drive continuous improvement.
