Manager of Fleet and Business Support

About the role

The City of Woodstock is seeking a strategic leader to oversee its fleet and business support functions. This full‑time permanent position reports to the Director of Public Works and plays a key role in ensuring efficient fleet operations and continuous improvement of business processes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the municipal fleet, including lifecycle planning and procurement.
• Develop and manage preventative maintenance programs to maximize vehicle availability.
• Oversee inventory control, parts management, and regulatory compliance.
• Optimize business support systems and processes across the Public Works department.
• Lead a team of staff, fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
• Prepare and manage budgets, reports, and performance metrics related to fleet operations.

Required profile

• Relevant post‑secondary education or equivalent experience in fleet management, logistics, or public works.
• Proven experience in managing municipal or large‑scale vehicle fleets.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Ability to work within municipal policies, regulations, and budgeting processes.
