Manager, Accounts Payable

About the role

MSC Canada is looking for a motivated Manager, Accounts Payable to lead a team of nine AP professionals. The role is central to ensuring accurate, timely vendor payments and maintaining strong financial controls within a fast‑growing ocean‑based transportation company.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of AP representatives, aligning performance with company policies.
• Oversee daily AP operations, meeting KPIs, service levels and quality standards.
• Manage month‑end and year‑end close processes, including reporting and internal audit support.
• Ensure timely and accurate vendor payments according to credit terms.
• Oversee vendor reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain robust financial controls and compliance with internal procedures.
• Collaborate with Operations, Logistics, Finance and Geneva stakeholders to resolve disputes and improve processes.
• Drive process improvement and automation initiatives, participating in system transformation projects.
• Monitor and troubleshoot system‑related issues, logging and escalating IT tickets.
• Contribute to departmental strategy and broader company initiatives.

Required profile

• 5–7 years of experience in Accounts Payable, Finance or a related function.
• 2–3 years of people‑management experience, leading and developing a team.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field (CPA designation is an asset).
• Strong understanding of AP processes, financial controls and month‑end close activities.
• Experience supporting internal/external audits and ensuring policy compliance.
• Proven ability to establish, monitor and improve KPIs using data‑driven insights.
• Demonstrated leadership capability.
