Manager, Accounting Property Operations

About the role

The Accounting Manager will lead financial management for a real‑estate portfolio, ensuring accurate reporting, supporting budgeting, and acting as a finance partner to Operations and senior leadership. The role also oversees a team of property accountants and drives continuous improvement across the finance function.

Key responsibilities

• Review monthly property financial packages for completeness, accuracy and timeliness.
• Consolidate financial analysis and reporting for the retirement portfolio, including balance‑sheet reviews.
• Coordinate and support the preparation of annual operating budgets and periodic forecasts with Operations teams.
• Assist with quarterly reviews, annual audits and integration of new acquisitions into financial systems.
• Lead training on financial statement analysis, budgeting and finance processes for managers and executives.
• Identify and implement process enhancements to improve finance efficiency.
• Supervise, mentor and develop the property accounting team, handling performance management and coaching.

Required profile

• University degree in Business, Finance or a related discipline.
• Professional accounting designation (CPA) or equivalent experience.
• 1‑3 years in financial management and 3‑5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
• Experience in real‑estate or related industry preferred.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of IFRS.
• Understanding of Canadian GAAP.
• Proficiency with EFP software.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
