LTO English Teacher (Special Education Preferred) – Semester 1

About the role

The Simcoe County District School Board is seeking a Long‑Term Occasional (LTO) teacher to deliver English instruction for Semester 1. The position covers one to three teaching periods (0.33, 0.66 or 1.0 full‑time equivalent) and gives preference to candidates with special‑education experience.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess English curriculum for the assigned period(s).
• Maintain classroom management and support a safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Report student progress to the principal and collaborate with support staff as required.
• Complete all mandatory board training and comply with vulnerability sector check requirements before start date.

Required profile

• Qualified teacher with certification to teach English in Ontario.
• Experience or interest in special‑education practices is preferred.
• Willingness to provide two professional references, including current or most recent supervisor.
• Commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion principles as outlined by the board.

• Effective instructional planning and delivery.
• Ability to assess and report student learning outcomes.
• Strong classroom management techniques.
