Locum OB Physician (June 2025 – May 2026) – Fergus, ON

About the role

Our nine‑physician family medicine group at Groves Memorial Community Hospital is seeking a locum obstetrician‑gynecologist to provide low‑risk obstetrical and neonatal care from June 2025 to May 2026. The position is based in Fergus, Ontario, and involves on‑call duties in a modern 44‑bed acute‑care facility.

Key responsibilities

• Manage labour patients, including oxytocin inductions and augmentations.
• Perform triage assessments and attend scheduled or urgent cesarean sections as the baby physician.
• Provide neonatal critical care and stabilization for transfers when required.
• Participate in half‑day OB clinics supported by an RPN, with no overhead charges.
• Join Friday morning virtual team rounds (07:00‑08:00).
• Maintain thorough antenatal records using Practice Solutions EMR, with both in‑hospital and remote access.

Required profile

• Board‑certified family physician with additional training in obstetrics (FM‑OB).
• Willingness to be on‑call 1 day in 9, with 24‑hour home‑call shifts and a response time of ≤25 minutes.
• Ability to work collaboratively with three local obstetricians and a GP‑anesthetist team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Practice Solutions EMR.
