Legislative Advisor

About the role

The Legislative Advisor joins the Policy Alignment and Legislative Services team within Alberta Environment and Protected Areas. Reporting to the Senior Legislative Advisor, this position manages complex legislative initiatives, provides advice to executive leadership, and guides internal teams through regulatory and legislative processes.

Key responsibilities

• Project‑manage legislative initiatives from planning through approval.
• Prepare and oversee key decision documents.
• Guide program area units through the legislative development and government decision‑making process.
• Support legislative planning and maintain tracking tools.
• Ensure the ministry’s legislative agenda aligns with government priorities and timelines.
• Collaborate across the ministry to advance legislative outcomes that reflect sound governance and environmental stewardship.

Required profile

• Demonstrated expertise in policy analysis and legislative frameworks.
• Experience managing complex legislative initiatives.
• Ability to work collaboratively across ministries and with senior leadership.

• Competitive salary ranging from $97,828 to $107,710 per year (CAD).
