Legal Services Officer – Courts

About the role

The Legal Services Officer supports the Provincial and Territorial Courts by conducting interviews, managing case files and informing defendants of their rights and obligations. This full‑time, on‑site position works in a non‑smoking, air‑conditioned urban office and offers the opportunity to develop courtroom administration skills while receiving comprehensive training.

Key responsibilities

• Interview clients, witnesses and other parties involved in court matters.
• Maintain and organise filing systems for court documents.
• Explain legal rights and obligations to defendants in clear, understandable terms.
• Perform general clerical duties, including data entry and correspondence.

Required profile

• College, CEGEP or equivalent certificate/diploma (1‑2 years) or comparable experience.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent oral and written communication.
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation.
• Willingness to undergo criminal‑record and driving‑record checks.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Experience using WordPerfect.
