Legal Services Officer – Courts

About the role

The Legal Services Officer will work within provincial and territorial courts, providing essential support by explaining defendants’ rights and obligations. This full‑time, on‑site position is based in an urban, air‑conditioned, non‑smoking environment and requires a valid driver’s licence and personal transportation.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate clearly the legal rights and obligations to court defendants.
• Maintain accurate case records, manage a large caseload and meet tight deadlines.
• Use Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word to organise documentation and correspondence.
• Coordinate with court staff, external agencies and Indigenous community partners.
• Ensure compliance with security protocols, including criminal record and driving record checks.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Highly organized, accurate and efficient in interpersonal interactions.
• Reliability, initiative, flexibility and good judgement.
• Team‑player attitude with a client‑focused approach.
