About the role
The Legal Operations Specialist supports Spark Power’s Legal Department by handling corporate governance, litigation coordination, contract repository management, and various legal operations initiatives. This role frees attorneys to focus on high‑judgment work while ensuring legal matters are organized, tracked, and executed in line with company standards and risk tolerance.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain entity records, minute books, resolutions, director/officer information, and related filings across Canada and the United States.
- Coordinate litigation documentation, track key dates, liaise with outside counsel, and keep matter summaries up to date.
- Administer the contract repository, ensuring executed agreements and amendments are accurately stored and searchable.
- Support legal operations through reporting, metrics tracking, and maintaining matter and contract logs.
- Assist attorneys with legal research, drafting support materials, and preparing briefing documents.
- Coordinate responses to internal governance or legal requests.
- Drive continuous improvement of department processes, templates, and playbooks.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
Required profile
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills for interaction with internal stakeholders and external counsel.
- Strong document, record, and deadline management abilities.
- High accuracy in reviewing and organizing legal documents.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Demonstrated handling of confidential and sensitive information.
- Paralegal (AB, US) or Law Clerk (ON) diploma or equivalent experience.
- Experience supporting corporate governance, litigation, and/or commercial legal teams; in‑house experience preferred.
- Familiarity with contract management and document management tools.
- Self‑starter with a proactive mindset, capable of independent work while supporting a team.
