About the role

Join the Legal Affairs – National Bank Financial team as a Legal Counsel specializing in civil and commercial litigation and regulatory investigations. You will influence high‑impact legal matters across Capital Markets and Wealth Management, applying your expertise in litigation management, legal analysis, and strategic advisory.

Key responsibilities

• Handle complex, strategic litigation and regulatory investigations, particularly in securities law.
• Manage litigation files and coordinate with business partners to ensure alignment with corporate objectives.
• Provide tailored legal advice on a broad range of issues, assessing needs and developing solutions.
• Collaborate with external counsel and maintain consistency between legal strategies and business goals.
• Interact with regulatory bodies such as CIRO, AMF, Canadian securities commissions, and the Montreal Exchange.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law with 3‑5 years of experience in civil or commercial litigation.
• Member in good standing of the Barreau du Québec or another Canadian bar.
• Experience gained in a law firm or comparable professional environment.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks affecting financial and institutional markets.
• Proven ability to manage complex files and serve sophisticated internal clients.
