Legal Counsel

About the role

Join the Canadian legal team of a global retail leader and provide expert advice on civil and commercial matters. Reporting to the Director of Legal Affairs, you will support business units across the organization, ensuring compliance and delivering practical legal solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Meet with internal clients to understand and analyze their legal needs.
• Prepare and deliver legal opinions in civil and commercial law.
• Research, interpret, and apply legislative standards to business issues.
• Collaborate with business units to develop strategies and solutions.
• Ensure company activities comply with laws, corporate policies, and good governance.
• Advise on legislative changes affecting the retail industry.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant legal areas.
• Interact occasionally with external lawyers, consultants, and suppliers.
• Follow up on files and provide ongoing support.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in law.
• Member in good standing of the Quebec Bar.
• Minimum three years of experience in civil and commercial law, either in‑house or at a law firm.
