Legal Counsel

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Legal Counsel to provide practical legal advice across BPA’s Canadian operations. The role focuses on common‑law matters and supports corporate, commercial, contractual, litigation and governance issues in a fast‑paced engineering environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal support on corporate, commercial, litigation, M&A and common‑law research matters.
• Draft and review corporate governance documents, shareholder and director resolutions, board meeting materials and continuous disclosure documents.
• Manage litigation and insurance matters, coordinating with insurers, external counsel and overseeing policy renewals.
• Advise business units on contracts, internal policies, lease and employee rental arrangements.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external advisors to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.

Required profile

• LL.B. or J.D. in common law and member in good standing of a Canadian provincial law society.
• At least two years post‑call experience, either in‑house or at a law firm.
• Strong knowledge of corporate, commercial and contract law; familiarity with litigation management, insurance, M&A and corporate governance is an asset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; French is a plus.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
