Legal Counsel

About the role

We are seeking a qualified lawyer to join Mullen Group’s head office in Okotoks, Alberta. The Legal Counsel will work closely with the General Counsel, managing a defined portfolio of legal matters across our diverse logistics businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day legal support on labour and employment matters, including drafting and reviewing employment agreements, handling performance and termination issues, and advising on policy interpretation and compliance.
• Conduct and support workplace investigations, including interviewing, evidence review, and reporting.
• Assist with labour relations issues and collective‑agreement interpretation where applicable.
• Support and, when appropriate, independently manage litigation and dispute matters, focusing on employment‑related claims, collections, and operational disputes.
• Oversee pleadings, correspondence, and strategy from external counsel, ensuring high‑level review and alignment with business objectives.
• Provide advice on commercial contracts and corporate matters as part of a broader in‑house practice.

Required profile

• Licensed lawyer with a practical, business‑oriented mindset.
• Experience handling labour, employment, corporate, and general in‑house legal work.
• Ability to work independently, identify issues, recommend actions, and advance matters to resolution.
• Strong judgment and capacity to manage high volumes of legal issues in a fast‑paced environment.
