Legal Counsel (Aerospace Defence)

About the role
The Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) is seeking a Legal Counsel to support its aerospace and defence commercial export operations. The role focuses on providing legal advice for internal procurement activities and sourcing services delivered to Canadian government departments.
Key responsibilities
- Advise on solicitation notices, commercial contracts, service agreements, and memoranda of understanding, highlighting legal implications and risk mitigation.
- Develop procurement documents such as Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and support internal and international procurements in line with MOUs.
- Participate in stakeholder meetings, negotiate contracts between exporters and foreign buyers, and manage amendments within tight timelines.
- Conduct legal research on national and international instruments, conventions, jurisprudence, and precedents to inform business decisions.
- Collaborate with internal teams to assess corporate and transactional risk, propose mitigation strategies, and ensure alignment with emerging jurisprudence.
- Serve as subject‑matter expert on committees, contributing to policy, procedure, and guideline development.
- Maintain relationships with Global Affairs Canada, the Department of National Defence, and other Crown corporations.
Required profile
- Completed a bachelor’s degree in law.
- Member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario.
- Demonstrated experience in commercial contract drafting, negotiation, and procurement law.
- Strong understanding of international trade and defence contracting frameworks.

- Knowledge of Canadian government procurement regulations.
