Legal Counsel – Aboriginal Law

About the role

We are seeking a qualified mid‑level litigator to join our Toronto office, focusing on Aboriginal law and representing First Nations interests. The successful candidate will work on constitutional, environmental, climate, sustainability and energy matters, helping to expand our national practice.

Key responsibilities

• Provide litigation and advisory services to Indigenous clients across Canada.
• Handle matters in constitutional, environmental, climate, sustainability and energy law.
• Develop and maintain relationships with First Nations communities, tribal councils and other stakeholders.
• Mentor junior associates and contribute to interdisciplinary team projects.
• Travel as needed to meet clients and attend cultural and professional events.

Required profile

• Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario; call 5‑10 years.
• Experience in constitutional, environmental, climate, sustainability or energy law.
• Genuine interest in serving First Nations interests.
• Strong organizational, time‑management and independent work abilities.

Required skills

• Excellent legal writing, advocacy and negotiation abilities.
• Capacity to explain complex legal concepts across disciplines and cultures.
• Team player who can work independently and within interdisciplinary teams.
