Lecturer in Indigenous Studies (Full‑time, 3‑year term)

About the role

The University of British Columbia Okanagan invites applications for a full‑time Lecturer position in Indigenous Studies. The three‑year appointment is expected to start on 1 January 2027 and will be based in the Department of Community, Culture and Global Studies.

Key responsibilities

• Teach a suite of undergraduate courses covering introductory to advanced Indigenous studies, including INDG 100, 203, 205, 210, 302, 303, 304, 308 and 401.
• Develop and potentially deliver upper‑level courses aligned with the candidate’s research specialization.
• Engage in departmental service, curriculum development, and community outreach.
• Contribute to research and scholarly activities related to Indigenous knowledge, methodologies, and governance.

Required profile

• PhD in Indigenous Studies or a closely related field by the start date.
• Demonstrated ability to teach Indigenous studies from introductory to advanced levels.
• Strong commitment to Indigenous knowledges, methodologies, and lived experience with Indigenous communities in Canada.
• Experience or knowledge of the interior of British Columbia is an asset.
• Preference will be given to applicants who self‑identify as Indigenous.
