Lecturer for Metamorphic Petrology (EPSC 445)

About the role

The Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at McGill University seeks a qualified instructor to teach the Metamorphic Petrology course (EPSC 445) for the Fall 2026 term. The position involves delivering lectures and laboratory sessions, managing course materials, and supporting student learning.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures on Mondays and Wednesdays (09:35‑10:25 am) in ADAMS 315.
• Conduct laboratory sessions on Fridays (02:35‑05:25 pm) in ADAMS 315.
• Design and prepare assignments, quizzes, and final examinations.
• Develop and oversee laboratory activities, including thin‑section analysis.
• Contribute to grading and supervise teaching assistants (TA support up to 10 students).
• Maintain course records and communicate with students.

Required profile

• PhD or equivalent advanced degree in Earth Sciences.
• Prior teaching experience or applied experience in metamorphic geology.
• Demonstrated ability to study metamorphic rocks in thin sections and in the field.
• Authorization to work in Canada and willingness to work in Quebec.
