About the role
The Faculty of Science at McGill University seeks an Assistant Professor whose research focuses on the processes that generate critical mineral deposits essential for a sustainable future. The successful candidate will join a vibrant department, contributing to both cutting‑edge research and undergraduate/graduate teaching.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and lead an innovative research program on critical minerals, integrating field, laboratory, and theoretical approaches.
- Secure external research funding and manage research grants.
- Supervise and mentor a diverse cohort of undergraduate and graduate students.
- Teach courses in mineral deposits, geochemistry, and related topics.
- Participate in departmental, university, and scholarly community service activities.
Required profile
- PhD in Earth Sciences (or a closely related discipline) by the start date.
- Demonstrated record of scholarly achievement and a strong, fundable research agenda.
- Experience supervising students and a commitment to high‑quality teaching.
