Labour Relations Consultant (12-month contract)

About the role

The Health Employers Association of British Columbia (HEABC) is seeking a Labour Relations Consultant for a 12‑month contract. In this role you will provide expert advice on labour, employment, privacy, health‑and‑safety and human‑rights issues to member organisations across the province’s publicly funded health sector.

Key responsibilities

• Provide labour‑relations advice on a range of legal and policy issues affecting health‑care employers.
• Interpret collective agreements, legislation and policy to ensure consistent application across the sector.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with member organisations, unions and external agencies.
• Represent HEABC at meetings to resolve disputes before formal third‑party hearings.
• Support the Lead Negotiator with research, drafting documents and negotiation planning.
• Attend trouble‑shooter and expedited hearings as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial relations, business or a related discipline.
• Minimum seven years recent experience in labour relations and/or labour and employment law.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret collective agreements and legislation.
• Experience working with health‑sector unions and public‑sector employers.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
