Laboratory Assistant – Phlebotomy & Patient Care

About the role

Dynacare is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join its patient‑focused team in Cannington. You will collect high‑quality blood and other specimens, support patient testing, and contribute to a positive patient experience while adhering to the company’s values and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain blood, urine, drug, breath‑alcohol, and other specimens using skilled venipuncture and phlebotomy techniques.
• Perform ECGs, Holter hookups, and paternity testing as required.
• Accurately enter patient and test data for Ministry of Health requisitions.
• Sort, label, and transport specimens according to SOPs, ensuring proper documentation.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and follow regulatory compliance.
• Contribute to departmental quality metrics and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Secondary school completion and a Laboratory Assistant or Medical Lab Assistance program with phlebotomy training.
• Customer‑focused attitude with genuine care for patients’ health.
• Ability to manage anxious patients calmly and professionally.
• Detail‑oriented, self‑managed, and able to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Proficient written and verbal English communication skills.
